SailboatSirius Business.

Beautiful late summer weather here at the lake. We would normally associate very warm and calm weather with the months of July and August. And the phrase that comes to mind, of course, with this sultry period is “Dog Days”. Most folks would assume, come the middle days of September, that “Dog-type Days” would be behind us. Not so this year. Today, this sailboater was undoubtedly enjoying the extended Summer weather.

For your information, the phrase “Dog Days” is associated with that time of year when the brightest star in the sky, Sirius, rises and sets with the Sun. Get the complete explanation of “Dog Days” here. Enjoy the lake.

CaterpillarWhat is this?

This critter was Sunday strolling through our Lake Vermilion garden. An unusual enough creation to make us stop and wonder what it was, had been, or will become.

So we searched and concluded it was one of these.

Watch for some new Lake Vermilion listings later this week.

Daisy Bay lotFor Sale!

Daisy Bay teardown!

Here is a beautiful Lake Vermilion building lot with an old log cabin that, unfortunately, is beyond repair. The lot, however, is extremely nice with approx. 330′ of frontage and 2.2 acres. The lot is level to moderately sloped, has mature tree cover including some large pine, and has a gravel/rock shoreline. Easy and convenient year-round road access from a paved roadway. Offered at $350,000.

Please email me if you would like additional information. I also have additional photos I would be happy to send to you via email.

PropOne Blade Short of a Propeller.

As we begin the late Summer season, the lake water level typically begins to decrease. This year it appears we will, again, have very low Fall water levels.

Lake Vermilion is a relatively clean lake, in terms of underwater hazards. Nearly all of the hidden dangers are well marked. But the lower water levels will, of course, bring additional hazards to within reach of your lower unit.

So keep an eye out and boat safely.

Labor DayLabor Day.

Labor Day typically marks the unofficial end of the summer season in lake country. There is a detectable decrease in activity on and near the water. I think, for many, it is the start of the best time of the year.

I hope your holiday was pleasant. I filled the day laboring on a lakeside renovation project.

As an update to the post below (which noted a new Lake Vermilion home listing)… here is the link to photos of this fine Lake Vermilion home.

Please email me for additional details or to arrange a visit.
