Tick II.
I needed to get back to the woods or back to the lake today.
I didn't care which. Either could be sweet medicine for what I had... a case of the 494 blues.
The lack of post activity for the last couple of days is related to a required but not sought after need to travel extensively via automobile. The highlight of the marathon was a lap around the Greater Twin Cities area during the hours which all metro dwellers would advise you to avoid... the rush hours.
So today's excursion to the woods near the Vermilion River to view a new listing (80 acres near the river, call me) was a welcome task.
I planned to catch up on the ol' blog with the help of my trusty Nikon 995. The idea was to collect a photo that might represent the Springtime woods. I walked. I looked. I walked. I looked. But I exited the trek without tripping the shutter. No flora or fauna presented a worthy subject.
I was defeated...
defeated until I felt that movement on my ankle under my tube sock.
It was a tick.
Now anyone who has read these ramblings will know this is not my first tick photo. I've photographed and posted on the elusive wood tick once before. But when a deadline looms and your options are down to one... the tick gets the nod. Again.
I guess I'm thankful the tick is the only personal parasite I've had the opportunity to photograph.
Anyway, the road blues are gone... I'm going to bed.
It sure was a beautiful weekend. The weather was summer-like enough to induce a little Saturday yard clean-up activity. On Sunday the Lake Home and Cabin Show was packed the information and activities for current or future vacation home owners. (Unfortunately, the pleasant weather did not positively affect attendance. But it was good to visit with those nice folks who stopped by to tell their stories about the lake.)
Today, however, was Sunday's evil twin. Today it snowed. Snowed!
Real estate activity is increasing. The inventory of all property types is on the upswing. If you are interested in buying or selling Lake Vermilion area real estate, please contact me.
The show starts on Friday and runs through Sunday. B. I. C. Realty will be in attendance at Booth 309. We attended the show last year and it was a pleasant surprise. The show promotes itself with these words...
"The show features products, services, activities and events covering virtually every aspect of lake and cabin ownership and the lake and cabin lifestyle."
I will be "in the booth" on Sunday from 10am until 5pm. Please stop by and say "Hi".
The lake is making excellent progress in it's annual effort to reduce ice content.
Warm days and warm nights have resulted in open water near most shorelines. And some shallower and/or smaller bays are partially open. If the lake opens before April 30th, it will be earlier than the historical average.
The time is near for dipping your feet back into Lake Vermilion waters.
The Timberjay News has offered an opinion/article on St. Louis County's handling of the 3 Bays Development on Lake Vermilion. The final paragraph of the article states:
"Lake Vermilion now provides nearly ten percent of the county’s tax base, and most lake property owners receive precious little for that immense contribution to county coffers. The least St. Louis County can do for Lake Vermilion area residents is make information freely available on a project of this magnitude. To do any less would be insulting."
The sellers of this Lake Vermilion home have indicated a desire to sell soon. The price of this beautiful home has been reduced from $825,000 to $799,000. Most of the furnishings will now be included (maybe even the boat)!
