ClownSmall Town, USA.

One of the perks of small town life is an annual festival. In Cook, MN it’s called “Timber Days” and it’s held the second weekend in June.

The success of these events is largely dependent upon the local support of local folks. From organizing the parade to tending a greasy grill in the Little League hamburger stand to recruiting candidates for “Miss Timber Days”, the unique atmosphere and attraction of these smile-inducing events can be attributed to the contributions of local volunteers.

Hats off to each and every one of them. It’s efforts like theirs that keeps the small town experience as enjoyable as ever.

Northern pike(s)Twin pikes.

So the first question that comes to mind is… Can I catch one more Northern and have a limit? Or can I catch two more?

There’s been some controversy in a few local circles about the authenticity of this fish (or fishes). Is this an actual catch from the natural world? Or is it some web-based photo-manipulated hoax?

Go here for the exciting (web-based) answer.

Section markerI was here.

Today, we have plenty of tools, devices, and gadgets to help us determine where we are. (Maybe what we need is a gizmo to enhance our sense of where we have been and where we are going.)

In real estate, especially real estate in “out-state-type” areas, monuments placed in the land are significant in establishing ownership boundaries. In fact, nothing brings more pleasure in this business than finding a property marker. Markers come in all sizes and shapes, but typically, they are rod-shaped, i.e. a pipe, a post, a pin. And finding one can make the day.

I found this Section marker a few days ago. At that point in time I might have said to myself, “I now know where I am”.

This adds credence to the time-worn saying of “Where ever you go, there you are”.
