Today is significant for two reasons.
1) Today is the day that those of us in the Northern Hemisphere are tilted closer to the Sun than any other day of the year.
2) Today is also the day that Northerners revel in the fact that in 6 months the days start getting longer.
It seems like I’m always too late to bid on the really good stuff!

Small Town, USA.
One of the perks of small town life is an annual festival. In Cook, MN it’s called “Timber Days” and it’s held the second weekend in June.
The success of these events is largely dependent upon the local support of local folks. From organizing the parade to tending a greasy grill in the Little League hamburger stand to recruiting candidates for “Miss Timber Days”, the unique atmosphere and attraction of these smile-inducing events can be attributed to the contributions of local volunteers.
Hats off to each and every one of them. It’s efforts like theirs that keeps the small town experience as enjoyable as ever.
