The folks down at the Minnesota Climatology office do not agree.

One of the current hot topics at LCP is AMR, or Automated Meter Reading. This project will convert customer meters to a new and "smarter" version that will allow automatic usage readings plus additional benefits for maintenance and repair. The conversion will begin this Spring and will take about 5 years to complete.
The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources is going to implement a study to monitor the contaminants in waterfowl eggs in Northeastern Minnesota. They are looking for eggs to include in the study. This news release has details on how you could help.
Buying and selling activity increases as the Spring and Summer seasons progress. That's to be expected. But it represents a challenge when it comes to staying on top of new inventory.
So the plan is to be more diligent when searching for property.
Starting next week you will see the results of a new and improved search routine. The idea is to fulfill one of the original and basic purposes for this web site. And that is to find and list newly available real estate offerings located on or near Lake Vermilion.
As always, please ask for additional information on any property of interest. Thanks!
It was last year about this time I posted a photo of the Pike River. An annual event might be developing here.
For those that pass the river on Highway 77 with any frequency, this image will not be news. For anyone else, it is confirmation the lake is receiving it's annual Spring transfusion from the Pike River watershed.
The lake's remaining ice pack still looks pretty solid. So there is still considerable work to be done in the melt and thaw department.
The typical ice-out date is plus or minus a week of May 1.
Maybe the holiday weekend was slow to release it's grip. Or maybe it's the less than Spring-like weather. The lake is white with ice but there are signs of hope.
The MN Department of Transportation has issued a list of area construction projects. The DNR is alerting us to the fact that Mothers Day will occur one week after the Fishing Opener. (So you can take your Mom fishing.) And the Spring burning restrictions (for the Lake Vermilion area) will go into effect on April 15th and 22nd.
This could be your great northwoods getaway cabin at the lake! An original and classic log cabin (in excellent condition) that has the perfect combination of charm and atmosphere. Here's a formal confirmation of our real estate market that common sense will affirm.
When you have a Vertical Supply Curve, it is market demand that primarily determines market value.
In other words... if the availability of something is fixed, it is buyer demand for the item that most likely affects the price that item will sell for.
In other words... real estate is a good investment, because they "ain't makin' any more of it".
All Lake Vermilion area real estate is a good value. With an even better future value. It would be tough to find anyone who regrets buying Lake Vermilion area real estate.
And now an update on the current conditions in the Rainy River Drainage Basin... I am pleased to report the basin is draining nicely.
Confirmation of this event is revealed in this photo (taken today) of the Rice River. All of that stained Rice River water (dihydrogen monoxide) is rushing in a northerly direction to eventually terminate in Hudson Bay.
