The Minnesota Fishing Season opens tomorrow, Saturday, May 10th for Walleye and Northern Pike.
You knew that.
A first hand observation of the lake on this day would suggest there will be a fair portion of Lake Vermilion with ice cover for Opening Day.
Lake Vermilion is ranked as one of the top 10 Walleye lakes in the state per the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources. The 2014 Walleye population in Lake Vermilion is historically very strong. The DNR has a nice online resource for Minnesota anglers.
Don’t forget… Lake Vermilion has a slot limit for Northern Pike (24″ – 36″) and Walleye (18″ – 26″).
