A tour of back roads in the Lake Vermilion area can reveal homes, barns, churches, town halls, and other buildings that separate themselves from typical local building styles.
This house near Silverdale is undoubtedly one of several still occupied in our area that are Sears Roebuck mail order houses. Sears Roebuck sold complete (right down to the nails and door hinges) home packages from about 1908 to 1940. It has always amazed me that buildings of this size and detail could be purchased via mail order. This web site has additional details.
