Septic tankEveryone’s concern.

The topic of the Individual Septic Treatment System is a persistent and enduring one. As well it should be.

Anyone who lives, works, or recreates on Lake Vermilion needs to accept individual responsibility for the quality of the lakes’ water. And those of us who are fortunate enough to own and occupy Lake Vermilion shoreline, this need for stewardship is amplified because we probably have some sort of septic treatment system. Again, I believe, the need for responsible action is on the individual. If the proper operation of your septic system is suspect, now is the time to address the issue. There are plenty of informational resources on subject. A good place to start is with the St. Louis County Health Department.

In a related story, the Timberjay has an article about an effort by Greenwood Township to fund a feasibility study to look at options for future septic management needs.
