Minnesota History.
The Minnesota Historical Society offers a website packed full of information.
One very interesting link takes you to Minnesota Place Names. This site is described as a “living database” and an “online encyclopedia of place-name information on Minnesota’s cities, towns, townships, lakes and streams”.
The website is based on a book first written in 1920 and named Minnesota Geographic Names. The book has been updated several times over the years and it is now named Minnesota Place Names – A Geographical Encyclopedia written by Warren Upham.
Check it out. It may make for some good wintertime reading.
And thanks to Than for the link!
