Deer season 2006Travel (not so far) Abroad.

In these parts, going to deer camp during deer season is kind of like a vacation to an exotic land.

It’s a journey to an exotic place without ever leaving the county.

Deer camp offers an immersion into a unique culture. There are new and unexpected foods, an altered language, and perhaps, the opportunity to meet new people.

The daily routine is not at all similar to the other 50 weeks of the year. Sleep patterns change, meal times vary, and social times are mixed with periods of quiet solitude. There are events of triumph and disappointment, periods of fatigue and energy, emotions of anxiety, frustration, and elation.

It was a great time spent with friends and family. I think I’ll plan to travel there again next year.

After all, it’s just 20 minutes down the road. (Congratulations, Than!)
